Daredevils, wow!
Did anyone else see this on 60 Minutes? This is nuts. Amazing but nuts.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/taking-on-th...0-minutes/

The guy starts off going down Eiger in the Alps with skis, lifts off with a sail parachute, disconnects the parachute, goes back to skiing for a while, chucks the skis then flies down the rest of the way in one of those flying suites. Shocking

Crazy.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

I think this has less commercials in it.

RE: Daredevils, wow!
I tried to get excited about it, but the dumping of the parachute and skis on the mountainside still turned me off.

Yes, I did. Strange he still did it after losing a few of his close buddies trying the same type of stunt.

I get enough kicks out of running over a speed bump with my golf cart.

He'll be in the news again someday. But not because he succeeded in descending down a mountain, but because he's a smudge on the side of the mountain.

Not really. All the equipment used is state of the art, the route was meticulously mapped beforehand, contingencies accounted for, etc. The risk wasn't eliminated but certainly brought to better than 95% - perhaps better than 99% of failure-free execution.

The term "daredevil" is obsolete, or applies only to the unprepared. Anyone with sponsors printed on his/her equipment is not daredevil - no sponsor would want its name associated with failure.

Had this skier sawn halfway through half his parachute shroud lines with a pocketknife, removed his altimeter, gone gloveless and helmetless then he'd be a daredeveil. He's far from that; he's an exhibitionist - a skilled performer, surely, but no daredevil.

The biggest jump I want to make is to the bedroom floor, getting out of bed in the morning....

Yup. Just like Evel Knievel.

It kinda doesn't matter what it's called. It's simply not for me. I can't even watch the videos.

I get in enough trouble jumping to conclusions. No cliffs for me. I don't even like flying in perfectly good airplanes.
