After 49 pages, I felt it was time I chimed in.

You can't do it, can you? You can't point to a single part of the bible that you would dismiss as repugnant and/or ridiculous. This illustrates just how incapable you are of independent thought, you're simply a religious tool.

My Christian family members could do this, why can't you? Are you that dishonest and bereft of any intellectual integrity?

This illustrates just how damaging Christianity can be to one's mind.

I find Hell a very challenging concept, of course. That's a normal reaction from a thinking, feeling person. It has to be tempered with notions of morality, utopia and judgment. If you're mocking me in Heaven, it isn't utopia for me. You must go somewhere else--and the new universe that is coming excludes sin and sinners.

I find the brutal rapes and murders in the Bible repugnant. However, I can read the accounts of such in the Bible without feeling like I've read something inappropriate or unclean for me personally. The Bible mentions sex, for example, but isn't a pornographic book...

Perhaps you should visit Vanuatu soon, maybe even take permanent residence there to get away from most of us? Smile

I'm not going anywhere. I will continue to point out your delusions.
This is working on the young - the old will die out.

Besides, Christianity is the predominant religion in Vanuatu. Do you ever fact check? Facepalm

My boss and their spouse used to live in Vanuatu. I just want to get you somewhere with little Internet access and away from most of us. This has little to do with my loving concern for you, though! Blush

This, for those playing along at home, is what we might call reveling in cognitive dissonance. No Poe I've yet seen has ever laid it on quite so thick.

You must be joking. I can read about a rape in the paper and be outraged without saying "The paper sucks! No one who is intelligent should read it!" - exactly what many TTA'ers do with the Bible.

Did the paper offer up any suggestions on how to proceed after the rape concluded? Marriage perhaps? How bout a good stoning to teach that bitch a lesson?

Except it is not the publisher or author who ordered the rape.

In the Bible, it is.

In the Bible, it is.

Are you accusing God of rape because He is omnipotent or because you are misreading/excerpting passages like those where women in the ANE, who would desire greatly husbands and families, following the loss of husbands in a battle, were permitted a 30-day mourning period and then could join Israel's men in traditional wedding ceremonies?

SO typical of skeptics to be pissed off "righteously" at people wanting a three-day waiting period for abortions, then wanting to extend three-day waiting periods to get guns, then calling 30-day waiting periods for courtships and marriages RAPES.

Thanks, but no thanks!
