Do you really think William Lane Craig or Ray Comfort or any other high-profile theists even pay attention to the counter-arguments? The real winner of the debate is almost always the audience. If you're goal is to have the theist change their mind and recant their arguments, don't bother. If your goal is to reach the listeners and get them thinking about other points of view, then by all means do so.

You are saying that only the theists and Christians stay firm minded in their paradigms following the debates themselves? You are saying that the freethinkers become Christians following the debates?

Your remarks sound one-sided.

No, but those who profit or are severely indoctrinated don't truly care about the debate. They have much less to work with in terms of evidence and not only that but they have to even compete against other religions who use largely the same arguments.

I believe atheists would definitely be more likely than theists to change their views on God. Most atheists simply ask for evidence. Most theists do not and those who do are left playing this insane game of trying to rationalize their deity in a constantly learning world which leaves God no place to hide.

If theists had plenty of strong arguments, actual factual evidence and numerous studies done by plenty of people from across different regions and places than yes I would be on the theist side. Its the fact they don't that makes me simply a skeptic.

Back on topic though I will listen to this Christian Radio Host and see what he has to say.

"Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind." -John F Kennedy

The way to see by Faith is to shut the eye of Reason.” -Benjamin Franklin

It has been a long time. How have you been?

My cousin hosts a christian radio show, is a presuppositional apologetic pastor and I'd like to hear someone call in and destroy his arguments.

Seriously.
Presuppositionalists are the worst. When you don't by their non-arguments it's only because your presuppositions don't allow you to believe. Then they say something about how you can't have logic without god and logic transcends the material so God must exist, and the 'debate' is over.

Seriously.

Presuppositionalists don't debate. They just scream their assumed a priori conclusions to whoever will listen with only the lightest veneer of legitimacy; and their target audience doesn't care enough to question them. Their apologetic's are meant to reinforce the faithful, not to be convincing to skeptics.

Just to be clear I don't think that presuppositional apologetics works and that is also the consensus opinion of most religious philosophers. That being stated...

Most of the people here don't understand presuppositional apologetics so both parties will be just talking passed each other, it will be--to paraphrase Derrida--a false encounter.

If there is something -- or everything -- that you think we don't understand about presuppositional apologetics, please feel free to enlighten us, so that we do not continue to be ignorant. Much more neighborly that way. Thumbsup

Get a book and read it. I've already made book recommendations on the topic.
