Debunk this creationist video about a human ancestor fossil
Could you help me debunk this video? I'm trying to debunk this creationist video, but its hard to even figure out what the creationist is arguing! His arguments are so incoherent! Any helpful information and arguments to debunk the video would be greatly appreciated! Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvILlPDmloM

RE: Debunk this creationist video about a human ancestor fossil
Just more of their same underhanded tactics, this is a common method of deception among creationists, what the video is suggesting is that "evolutionists" (a loaded, ignorant term) don't think that a particular species is different from humans. All the video does is quote the paleontologists out of context while they are having an inside baseball discussion on where to make the dividing line between one species or another.

This is not a discussion denying that evolution is false, this is not a discussion that there aren't different species of humans, this not a discussion about the age of fossils. The paper referenced in the video even mentioned an age of 780,000 years which destroys any creationist timeline.

This is a video that attempts to cast aspersions on the idea of other human species. I don't even see what the author of the video is even attempting to point out here other than trying to cast doubt on evolution, which is a failure.

Just because there is a scientific discussion about differing views on evolution between scientists does not provide evidence that anything was created by a deity.

Just a note here, creationism suffers profoundly from the problem of evil, it asserts that suffering/death were the result of "original sin", it links death and suffering to a human act when the fossil evidence totally contradicts this. Suffering and death existed long before humans walked this planet. This is what contradicts the biblical creation myth.

All the author of this video does is demonstrate their lack of reading comprehension, providing ample evidence of their own ignorance.

What he seems to have trouble with is the reality of transitional species. He wants a black or white answer and can't deal with shades of gray.

RE: Debunk this creationist video about a human ancestor fossil
Let's say Homo antecessor is indeed an early Homo sapien. Fine. Let's just say that.

Then let's say that Homo heidelbergensis is an early form of Homo antecessor.

Fine. The video's maker wants us to believe that Homo heidelbergensis is homo sapien by the associative property.

And then let's say that Homo heidelbergensis is just the later form of Homo erectus. Okay. No problem. Now let's say that Homo erectus is just a later version of Homo habilis.

... now let's say that Homo habilis is a (much) later version of Australopithecus afarensis (or something related to the Australopithecus group), who is in turn a later version of Sahelanthropus tchadensis, and so forth.

The maker of that video has just described evolution.

He seems to be relying on a book by James Shreeve who has a degree in English and probably doesn't know shit from shinola about paleoanthropology.

It seems like he's making the argument that both Homo antecessor and H. heidelbergensis are Homo sapiens and not evolutionary antecedents. The creator of the video is surely parroting some 1990s / early 2000s creationist article that cherry-picked the original science papers. Based on the wording, it's possibly this article:

http://creation.mobi/fossil-evidence-for...genus-homo

Anyway, the cherry-picked information in the video focuses heavily on the supposed modern human features of the fossils discussed. I don't have time at present to debunk everything, but the first cherry-picked quote about the "fully modern facial topography" of the partial juvenile H. antecessor facial fossil leaves out important information from the paper. Sure, the face has some modern features, but the full paper goes on at length about dental similarities to much older species. Plus, the paper discusses adult fossil material with slightly more robust facial features. I have access to the full paper if you want to read it.

https://www.researchgate.net/publication...ern_Humans

Reading the original source material is a VERY good way to debunk creationist BS. Because it shows where they may have misunderstood or, worse, misrepresented what the original scientists said.

Over the course of 1.5 million years Homo Erectus substantially evolved ( I know the creatards hate that word but fuck 'em). In effect, from where they started they became us.

Except for creatards who have failed to evolve at all and remain blithering apes.

Humans evolved.
Don't matter what you call each step of that evolution, they still did.

The usual creantionist attack form is to insult anybody who doubts their stupid claims. In the sense that not all Atheists are scientists; the creationist demands that anybody that questions them needs a degree in physics or biology to question them. If you don't, they'll scream and squawk for hours about you "Not knowing the foundations of your own 'beliefs'", when in reality most creationists have never read or attempted to understand the concepts of science themselves. In a situation where they do meet a scientist, it always ends in "Nuh uh! Your 10 year PH.d in your field is wrong because... because!".

You can observe this anywhere in the Atheist vs Theist section, where the lifecycle of a creationist is like this:

Let's presume that the creationist is a male.

Stage 1: Shows up like he's some sort of super hero, making a proud exclaim that everyone on the forum is stupid, except him(how he says this can vary, but it's a staple to have a superiority complex).

Stage 2: Has his first thread skullfucked by 20 + atheists that has heard his exact argument before about a hundred times, leaving said creationist fatigued after about 10 to 20 pages or so.

Stage 3: Creationist creates several new threads with what he calls "amazing proof" of his imaginary friend, yet the enthusiasm isn't as strong before because the first thread was supposed to be his big "checkmate". Rinse and repeat of Stage 2.

Stage 4: The new threads are also deflated and the creationist is pretty much defeated. At this point one or two things will happen:

One is that he will get bored and after a few deathkicks in activity, he leaves the forum forever. Nobody will remember said person due to being replaced by another creationist.

Two is that the creationist doubles down. If he can't beat the forum debaters intellectually, he'll turn to trolling or creating sock accounts; both gets him banned eventually. And again, nobody will remember him.
