Haha, I would like this, but that would mess it up. Tongue

LOL. I like that you didn't like Free Thought's like which would have messed up his likes. That's, like, so nice of you.

RE: Debunking miracles
So what would they consider a miracle. Is it reserved for only something good that happens? My daughter is transgender which happens 1 in 30, 000 people. Not that that's a bad thing, it just is the way she was beautifully born. I wonder if they would consider that a miracle? Or how about being gay? Or how about being born intersex?

They like to pick and choose what a miracle is. If it has anything to do with sexuality, oh brother, then it's no miracle, it's a bad choice. What a bunch of idiots.

Ah, but all the bad stuff is the work of the Satan. God and theists have that loophole they pull out when they're cornered..... and they're cornered a lot. Maybe that's what atheists need. Instead of being logical and rational we need a nonsensical loophole too. Facepalm

Living on a planet where million to one chances happen 295 times a day, and they think a thousand to one chance is even remotely significant?

The "One in a thousand" thing was most likely them just tossing out the first thing that means unlikely that came to their heads.

I know... I just wanted to put out there just how pointlessly insignificant a thousand to one chance really is.

Never looked at it that way before, good defuser for a debate.

Theism is to believe what other people claim, Atheism is to ask "why should I".

RE: Debunking miracles
Humans have thousands of interactions just within their living environments every day. Humans also have a very well evolved body that is constantly bent on healing itself. From small scratches on the knee, to viruses, infections and even cancer, the human body is amazingly good at self-repair(in cases where you need a doctor, that would definitely not be a miracle. Give your doctor a high-five and a case of beer, because he studied his ass off to save your ass).

To the former, if the odds were a million to one against an occurrence, that would mean that a person living to the age of 80 will have hit those odds in one way or another, a staggering 29 times in their lifetimes. That's a major "miracle" roughly every 3 years. To the latter, there are perfectly natural explanations that can explain all of them...even cancer remission.

Miracles?

Nope. Just the odds playing out and nature doing what it does. But if you are the one benefiting, you can call yourself lucky!
