Did Muhammad actually exist?
I'm not familiar if there other accounts of him, other than from the Quran. So, are there transcripts from Diplomats, Kings, Princes, Generals, Historians, Scholars, etc from around the time talking about Muhammad?

RE: Did Muhammad actually exist?
I can't say for sure. I can say that just like Jesus, he is a perfect figure head to control people. Just like re-writing the bible to make kings sound like they are "of god" makes them difficult to argue with, so does a figure head that is either long dead or does not exist. Then you can say they told you anything and it is impossible to prove that he/she/it did not.

RE: Did Muhammad actually exist?
Yea probably. More likely then Jesus anyway.
He was just some regular guy who rose to some mediocre power and created a religion. Happens all the time.
Where as Jesus was this all powerful mystically genie who would grant you three wishes if you rubs his belly. Or maybe that was Buddha? I dunno, there's so many religious figures it's hard to keep up with who's who and who does/did what etc...

Surely they must know.

I think they know there was a merchant by that name from those dates, within a known merchant family, and they know the names of the family.

They also know that some of the changes that occurred right after those dates.
However, the common misconception is that Allah is an "Abrahamic god".. ie Yahweh. (The Bible reflects /Prophets constantly yelling at the Hebrew about worshiping the Arabic moon god, so we know they are not the same). So, historically it is false, that Yahweh is Allah, and it's also false to think he attempted to "convert" other monotheists to Allah worship, immediately, in his lifetime. Apparently for quite a while, Islam was tolerant of ANY monotheist system, and they just *declared* any other monotheist system they came into contact with, to BE Allah, even though the historical development of the other gods was totally different. It took a few hundred years before they became intolerant of other systems. Allah, (or al-Ilah), was a phase of the moon god, Sin, (the "crescent moon" phase of the moon), which is ubiquitous in Islamic decoration, and mosques.
