Did republicans pick Trump so that more people would vote for Hillary?
Did the election just blow up in the face of the establishment?

Nope. The Dems promoted Trump on the assumption that he'd be easier to beat than a centrist (by US standards of centre).

And yes ... in hindsight, it was a poor strategy.

Just in case anyone reading this isn't up-to-date with the leaked e-mails: What DLJ said isn't an educated guess, it's the DNC's and Hillary's actual strategy that they discussed in their private communication.

It's like a horror movie where the monster kills its creator.

... and everyone else in the village.

Tell me, Zeke, how does the story end?

Isn't it usually the plucky heroine (the bookish one who didn't get her tits out at the beginning) and perhaps the slightly shambolic guy (a bit too serious but with his heart in the right place) who defeat the monster and save the day?

Why did the powers that be promote Clinton and Trump????

Because -- they've been feeding us shit sandwiches for so long - they think we actually LIKE them....

Or end up making things worst. Or the monster turns out to be good. I don't know.

I think I've seen this one before. I'm pretty sure an unlikely comedy duo comes out on top after getting some lucky breaks just in the nick of time. It's most likely a black guy and a white guy, although sometimes it's a black guy or white guy and Jackie Chan.
