Yes, she did.

Kinda.

It was more like...

"America: the place where all our religious wackos, our lazy Irish beggars and our criminal classes went when they realised that they weren't wanted here. So, like a voluntary version of Australia."

Or words to that effect.

Big Grin

We 'murricans love to bullshit ourselves.

It is the one thing we do really well these days.

Ive heard somewhere that America was heading for a Theocracy, and events like the Salem Witch trials outraged people so much that it was off the table for good.

As fraked up as America is, its become the launch pad/ front-line for new active Atheist movement, in spite of its heavily funded establishment backed opposition. GOD BLESS MERICA

Theism is to believe what other people claim, Atheism is to ask "why should I".

I read the title, and the first thing that popped into my head was 'What tolerance? Had there been real tolerance, the First Amendment wouldn't have been needed'.

WE profess at least legal tolerance now but the earliest settlements were formed under the rule of a country which was still burning heretics in the early 17th century.
One has to expect them to derive much of their custom from the mother country.
