Dishwasher brand/feature reviews/advice?
So my dishwasher is broken and I need to buy a new one and I was just hoping you guys could give me some brand feedback and stuff...

What brand do you own and are you satisfied? How long has it been running?
Installation worth $100 or just do it myself?

---------------

In store these are all on sale and look pretty good for the $, leaning toward the Maytag for $450...

Has everything but the adjustable top rack (steam, food disposal, stainless) and is $450 in the store right now w/ 10 year warranty: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Maytag-JetCle...nhtr5Se9YU

For another hundred I could get the hidden controls (gimicky) and adjustable rack (not so gimmicky): http://www.homedepot.com/p/Maytag-JetCle...nhvRJSe9YU

This whirlpool is also on sale it has the hidden controls and adjustable rack but it's interior is plastic, it has no steam and it's manufacturers warranty is a useless 1yr (same as the stores).

RE: Dishwasher brand/feature reviews/advice?
If you were Mormon you could just marry one.

Maytags are super expensive in Australia (last time i checked), like $1,200
from what ive heard they are super reliable.

Personally I stick with a Miele , just because of the track record my family has had with the brand in general.
I have "FAITH" in their reliability.

Theism is to believe what other people claim, Atheism is to ask "why should I".

IIRC Miele is more 'pro kitchen' in the states. Either you are running a restaurant or are just that guy with far too much disposable income.

...Yeah looks my cheap domestic dishwasher is your fancy import dishwasher and visa versa... http://www.us-appliance.com/midistst.html

Ps. I had to try really hard not to make a woman/mexican joke....but you managed to make it classy by including 'Mormon' brilliant!

I'd go with either this model or the red version Tongue

...and what leave my broken dishwasher in countertop to remind me of how good life used to be, until I sell my house and have every buyer start negotiation with "Well the dishwasher doesn't work..."?

Spooky image, if you look long enough you can see a dishwasher appear.....

Wow. This is the best OP ever. No google needed, just come to TTA. This could also double as a 1st world problem post in that other thread.

Since you asked for advice I will dispense. Smile

My dishwasher is an old ugly one from probably before I was born. It was state of the art in its day. It works so well that the only reason I consider replacing it is for aesthetics but I am scared nothing will be quite as perfect.

I know lots of people with new dishwashers though and I will tell you HIDDEN CONTROLS ARE NOT GIMMICKIE!!! My mom has a not hidden control DWer and it sucks. Just light breeze from someone walking by turns it on, I swear. It's quiet so it gets half way through a cycle of an empty machine before noticed.

My vote is the middle guy. Not sure the warranty though.

Good luck.

No I googled, read a few spec sheets, went to the store and looked at a couple...
I just don't want to pay for consumer reports.

...I have a degree in almost-marketing so I'm wise to shit and I know how many ways there are to generate BS around a product and thus I always like to get first hand reviews for anything significantly expensive.

...and yeah first world problems and all that, but when something in your house breaks you replace/fix it.
