Yes, although most people in my parent's generation on my side of the family and my wife's are Christian. Also, despite this, Christmas was more of a family affair for me than a religious one, even when I used to be Christian.

Not much has changed for me, aside from feeling a bit odd singing religious carols.

RE: Do Atheists Celebrate Christmas?
I quite often hide myself away in a bedroom with my laptop for a few hours and do some programming between Christmas Eve and Boxing day.

Last year I didn't get much work done because I ended up proof reading my husband's book, then my mother's book then getting told off by my mother for not helping with the dog walks. She just saw me in bed all day for the previous week and somehow didn't notice the wad of printed A4 paper and collection of pens in my hands.

Still, it's better than watching so-called light entertainment on television or sitting on an uncomfortable seat while everyone else talks about bland stuff they know nothing about in an opinionated way.

RE: Do Atheists Celebrate Christmas?
I love celebrating the holidays and I am -so- excited to have my first christmas with dear little hobbit. Also we get two days because my family celebrates yule, so it will be nice to have a day with the whole family and a day with just my new little family.

I love the feeling of the holidays. The lights, decorations, even the cheesy crappy songs. Feels like family and love to me

My family is the poster family for taking the Christ out of Christmas - but that doesn't mean we don't enjoy it. Big Grin

I think this proves your 'niceness' gland isn't overworking itself. Dodgy
