Natural selection does not have a choice to be savage because it is only a process, if that is the case gravity is a savage too. Humans however know what they were doing and continued anyway.

Mostly they didn't know what they were doing.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

That is right so you can't fault something for doing something it does not know it is doing, especially if it is only a natural process. Humans however do know what they are doing.

Most of the extinctions that have an arguably human origin were not intentional.

But many where. In fact humans knew that destroying forest would kill off anything living in that area. Where some animals killed with no intention, yes, but they do not make up the majority that where killed intentionally weather it be moving their homes out of the way for ours, for food, or hell even for sport.

You are confusing killing with extinction.

No, I am saying that humans have killed animals to extinction.

No, I am saying that humans have killed animals to extinction.

I think the list of animals intentionally driven to extinction is "thylacine, Falkland Island wolf, Zanzibar leopard".

And, no, not the dodo, not the passenger pigeon, not the great auk, etc. These went extinct due to human activity but they weren't intentionally driven extinct.

I don't need those three birds, there are way more animals killed by humans.

Intent is the keyword. I don't think anybody poaching a Java Tiger or Western Black Rhino woke up and said to themselves "You know what? Fuck those Tigers/Rhinos, I'm going to hunt them to extinction."
