I'm married and my husband is veeeeeery handy with his tools but once in awhile I'm a Do It Yourself kinda gal. My husband likes to watch me get deeply interested in my own projects. He thinks I'm pretty handy too. Yes

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

RE: Do you DIY?
I fix and build stuff around the house like shelves, floors, toilets, water heater, etc. and for the orchard like the tractor, mowers, sprayer, chainsaw, and so on.

I have built a kitchen, rebuilt a bathroom, installed hardwood floors, refinished oak floors; I modify, build, or repair guns, I load shotgun shells, I fix watches, I do minor car repair. I'm not expert at any of those things, just willing to try, make mistakes, and learn.

Teh interwebz have made learning how to do things much more accessible. I can make mistakes much more easily than ever before. Yes

With tbe advent of the Interweb I find that my mistakes are far better informed, no longer purely out of ignorance,

As far as home repair goes, I'm comfortable with framing, drywall, trim, and hanging doors. I'll help run wire and wire up some things, but I don't do any of the actual planning on electrical stuff. I did tile once.

I built the computer I'm currently using.

RE: Do you DIY?
I designed and rebuilt my kitchen apart from the counters, did not have the kit for that job. Did all the new plumbing and wiring but got latter certificated later.

Still doing most plumbing jobs etc myself, can't do the bending and lifting these days but I still still OK at weilding a good spanner and hammer!

Old DIYers never die, they just lose their ball-peins.

I just paint old crappy furniture and make it look pretty again.
