It wasn't me, it was the other person.
I would never say anything bad about someone behind their back.

I hope that the world turns, and things get better. But what I hope most of all is that you understand what I mean when I tell you that, even though I do not know you, and even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you, I love you. With all my heart, I love you. - V for Vendetta

I think I read that gossip is good for people, within limits of course, like it's some sort of social connection to other people.

No, but I hear that Ferdi does. Drinking Beverage

I gotta say, Chas, every time I see the Coffee Cup Guy at the end of a post , nine times out of ten I know it's you. You and the Coffee Cup Guy icon are one and the same....true? You must have been separated at birth.

Did I just start a gossip?

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

RE: Do you gossip?
I have to admit that I just don't really 'get it', especially about celebrities. I just don't find it that interesting even gossip about someone I know. Everyone is different after all. And having been at the wrong end of gossip for many years I am very wary of people who do gossip.

When I went back to university after some time in industry, I moved into university accommodation with three other women, an Indian, a Greek and an American. The Greek and American were really girly and they assumed that I was just like them. In fact I was kind of surprised at how immature they were. They were more like 15 year old girls rather than early 20's.

The Indian woman was very nice and friendly though and more worldly. Anyway one evening they started gossiping about the Indian flatmate and somehow they had noticed there was a line of hair extending from her crotch to her belly button. I realised that not only would they be able to gossip in such a fatuous way about me, but it was inevitable in time that they would (anything they didn't understand was described as 'weird'). I didn't say anything but after that evening I just shut myself away in my bedroom, concentrated on my studies and never socialised with them again. They took this personally. I knew that they probably would but I also knew that I was able to cope. After all, why should I care if two girls bitch at me? They then tried ganging up with the Indian against me although I stayed on good terms with her throughout the year. I didn't want to explain to the Indian exactly why things had turned sour because that would just make her feel more self conscious. But I did explain to her that I just wasn't into gossip and ganging up against other people.

Anyway long story short it ended up as all out war between me and the Greek and American and I like to think that I made their life more hellish than they were able to achieve against me. I think because I had seen and experienced far more of life and knew what really mattered whereas they had never been out in the real world.

RE: Do you gossip?
Yeah, I guess it depends on your definition of gossip.

Some gossip is brutal, unfair, and petty

I used to work at the horrible private Christian school that was also a baptist church. I like to gossip about that place. I like to gossip about previous churches I went to. There's a lot of scandal at some churches! How can I not talk about it?!

Their thoughts are someone else's opinions,
their lives a mimicry,
their passions a quotation."

RE: Do you gossip?
No. I used to when I was in high school. But people got hurt and I learned its best to keep my mouth shut.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

Agree. I always said I wouldn't look out the window to see the Pope. Who gives a shit ? I'm as *un-star-struck* as they come.

Gossip is group-forming behavior. It can be good. It's also good if you're known as someone who never EVER says mean things behind your friend's backs, AND if people get that you never reveal confidences...EVER. (That way you get all the dirt. Tongue )

Edit : I did see Kim Kardashian once in the Beverly Center. I thought "Boy that IS a big ass" Weeping )

Insufferable know-it-all.Einstein God has a plan for us. Please stop screwing it up with your prayers.
