Do you still go to church?
I'm just wondering if any of you still go. I know most of you don't. But I guess this is for the closet atheists. How do you cope after church? Do you just shake your head? How do you not get pulled back in to all the woo and bullshit?

Haven't been to church in decades. No reason to go.

Sometimes for holidays because it makes my mom happy. But I don't take communion or anything--unless I'm hungry Wink

RE: Do you still go to church?
Now that I think about it, the last time I went to church was to feign interest at a Church of Scientology in Las Vegas out of curiosity. Because that's just how I entertain myself.

STILL go to church??

Been to church twice in my life and even that was two times too many.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

Only two things will get me into a church and neither have happened in a while...one is a wedding, the other a funeral. Either way it has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with being respectful of either the bride and groom or the family of the deceased.

See here they are the bruises some were self-inflicted and some showed up along the way. - JF

^^ this answer.

"If we are honest—and scientists have to be—we must admit that religion is a jumble of false assertions, with no basis in reality.
The very idea of God is a product of the human imagination."

No in the last 60 years. Church billed me $1.00 after being out sick for a month. I had pledged 25 cents per week. One of the few times I saw my dad really, really, mad.

I go whenever I'm paid to be there as part of the special music for a service. I've been an atheist long enough that the religious aspects of a church service don't appeal.

RE: Do you still go to church?
It's been 12 years. I went inside for my mom's funeral......

Other than that -- it's been 30 some years since I attended a service..
