RE: DOC'S PACIFIC SUNDAY SCHOOL (WHERE WE TEACH THE WHOLE KALPASUTRA)
A serious question here, did the rabbi give jesus's penis a little suck to remove blood which is traditional. We need to know.

More Jewish than Christian I should think.

Nontheless, a toast to the Holy Prepuce!

Not so sure about that. Unless I wasn't paying enough attention to what I just read, while circumcision is definitely a Jewish invention, the Feast itself is Roman Catholic. It celebrates Jesus's circumcision specifically so it couldn't be Jewish.

After all as Doc says "After passing through many hands, it finally landed in Calcata, Italy and had its own chapel." "The foreskin was reported to have been responsible for many wonderful miracles." Hobo

Forget Viagara and Cialis, pray to the Holy Prepuce for some Holy Wood.

I have no fucking idea why I'm finding this so funny, maybe its because when I first brought it up I never imagined that the RCC actually had a Holy day for this. If this doesn't convince the devout that all this stuff is made up nothing will.

I nearly spit my tea all over my laptop at the thought of Mary drying pickled foreskin juice off the feet of Jesus. It just ain't right. Sadcryface

And thinking back, we didn't get Holy Prepuce Day off when I was at Catholic school. We were robbed I tell ya, robbed. We could have had a parade or something. Weeping

Actually you did get the day off. It is/was New Years day, ( the Feast of the Circumcision) until they changed it into the feast of Mary, the Mother of Jebus.

Wait new year's day? I thought circumcision was on the 8th day after birth? Wouldn't that make it the 2nd of January if Jesus was born on December 25th? Or is the 25th counted as the first day?

Colourcraze,
Yes, the 25th would count as day one. Also, the feast was not just celebrated by the RCC, but also by other churches, such as the Eastern Orthodox churches and surprisingly the Lutherans as well. There is a move however to re-naming the day as the Feast of the Name of Jesus. I can't imagine why.

The Feast also has some hymns. Here's an example:

Enthroned on high with the Eternal Father and Your divine Spirit,
O Jesus, You willed to be born on earth of the unwedded handmaid, your Mother. Therefore You were circumcised as an eight-day old Child.
Glory to Your most gracious counsel;
glory to Your dispensation;
glory to Your condescension, O only Lover of mankind.

Here's another:

Beneath the knife behold The Child,
The innocent, the undefiled;
For captives He the ransom pays,
For lawless man the law obeys.

The Feast was important because it records the first time that the blood of Christ was shed.

Like Full Circle, I find this stuff most amusing. I don't know why. It also tells me that the depths of human gullibility cannot be plumbed, accounting for the survival of religion to this day.
