Capitalism... a theory that includes trickle-down economics, encourages corporate domination of government policies, and enables abuse towards workers and other citizens. A plan that invites 99% of failure with 1% victory. A theory that puts you out there on your own. An idea that causes growth, but not without the consequential 'bust'. Not a plan I'd support without heavy government regulation.

With a unified world economy and 7 billion people on the planet, it's time accept the fact that we all need to be there for each other.

What the West feared was totalitarianism; Communism was just one instantiation of it.
What the Right in the U.S. are currently against is socialism - viewed as unlawful taking of the fruits of their labor.

I have no idea why you are replying to me. I haven't said anything to the contrary.

Not to you - to this sub-thread.

Many things that are free haven't been stolen from anyone, for example water.

Consider

Eh!? Where did the water come from that is being given away? If your suggesting that the government is collecting water from streams on its national parks, proccessing and, bottling it, and shipping it for free, you are nuts. Even if that was the case (which it isn't) then where do the get the money from do do all of the work involved? Volunteer work? I think not. They pay those folks from money collected via taxation. I reiterate, nothing is free.

That's why we have to pay a social security tax, this isn't stealing because we get something in return: free healthcare, pensions, when you are unable to work due to a accident you can still get your paycheck, you get money for raising kids, you can still get money when you are laid off and looking for a job.

But sometimes people abuse the last one and there should be put a stop to giving people who have no job so much money. At least in Belgium it is the case some people take advantage of the social security system.

Bullshit argument. Taxation is theft. It is legal theft by the government, but to call is anything else is to delude yourself. I pay social security taxes. Uncle Sam decides to take money out of the collective Social Security pool of money to use for other, more important things. Then the money I was forced, against my will to 'invest' is gone? That isn't theft? If I had a gun, pointed it at you, and said give me your money, and you complied did I steal it, or did you give it to me? That is what we are talking about here. Your money, and freedoms are never safe as long as politicians are in session. They are the men with the guns, and the jails, and the guards, and bombs, and tanks. I am subject to their will or else.

Ummmm...

So how would we fund the police, fire department, roads and maintenance, etc...

Or are you more of an old school punk rocker saying "fuck your social order?"

No. I am one of those people that understands how things work. We fund the police, fire department, roads, maintenance, etc. from local taxes, like taxes on gasoline, sales taxes, etc. We (In America at least) do not fund these things from Federal Income Taxes, which is what I thought we were talking about, was it not? The difference between these taxes are the fact that we can choose whether or not we will buy certain things and pay the tax associated with it. With a Federal Income Tax the (Federal) government takes the money from you without your consent. That is what I meant.

Taxes are the price of civilization. How would you pay the tab?
