RE: Does anyone have a Deconversion playlist?
Ben Rector "When A Heart Breaks"

This song...whew. I posted this in my closure thread a while back, but it's definitely one I listened to when I was going through my breakup with Christianity.

One of the beautiful things about music and poetry is interpreting it for yourself. Ben meant it in a pro-christian message of "you need Jesus when everything falls apart." Well, everything fell apart, I had just taken care of absolute real life horror stories in the ED, I was completely burned out, my worldview was turned upside down and I had no one to talk to about it, and all I heard was deafening silence - I "needed" Jesus and found myself completely isolated and without the man that vowed to loved me for better or worse.

I woke up this morning
And I heard the news
I know the pain of a heartbreak
I don't have answers
And neither do you
I know the pain of a heartbreak

This isn't easy
This isn't clear
And you don't need Jesus
Til you're here
Then confusion and the doubts you had
Up and walk away
They walk away
When a heart breaks

I heard the doctor
But what did he say
I knew I was fine about this time yesterday
I don't need answers
I just need some peace
I just need someone who could help me get some sleep
Who could help me get some sleep

This isn't easy
This isn't clear
And you don't need Jesus
Til you're here
Then confusion and the doubts you had
Up and walk away
They walk away
When a heart breaks
When a heart breaks
When a heart breaks
Oh, when a heart breaks

This isn't easy
This isn't clear
And you don't need Jesus
Til you're here
Then confusion and the doubts you had
Up and walk away
They walk away
When a heart breaks

RE: Does anyone have a Deconversion playlist?
For that existential crisis they comes along with deconversion:

"Where are you going?" Dave Matthews Band

Where are you going, with your long face pulling down?
Don’t hide away, like an ocean
But you can’t see, but you can smell
And the sound of waves crash down

I am no Superman
I have no reasons for you
I am no hero, oh that’s for sure
But I do know one thing
Is where you are, is where I belong
I do know, where you go is where I wanna be

Where are you going, where do you go?
Are you looking for answers to questions under the stars?
Well, if along the way you are growing weary,
You can rest with me until a brighter day
And you're okay

I am no Superman
I have no answers for you
I am no hero, oh that’s for sure
But I do know one thing
Is where you are, is where I belong
I do know, where you go is where I wanna be

Where are you going, where do you go?

Where do you go?
Where are you going, where do you go?

I am no Superman
I have no answers for you
I am no hero, oh that’s for sure
But I do know one thing
Is where you are, is where I belong
I do know, where you go is where I wanna be

Where are you going, where do you go?
Tell me, where are you going, where?

Let’s go.

RE: Does anyone have a Deconversion playlist?
Another one from Rush:

BU2B
I was brought up to believe
The universe has a plan
We are only human
It's not ours to understand

The universe has a plan
All is for the best
Some will be rewarded
And the devil will take the rest

All is for the best
Believe in what we're told
Blind men in the market
Buying what we're sold

Believe in what we're told
Until our final breath
While our loving Watchmaker
Loves us all to death

In a world of cut and thrust
I was always taught to trust
In a world where all must fail
Heaven's justice will prevail

The joy and pain that we receive
Each comes with its own cost
The price of what we're winning
Is the same as what we've lost

All is for the best
Believe in what we're told
Blind men in the market
Buying what we're sold

Believe in what we're told
Until our final breath
While our loving Watchmaker
Loves us all to death

Until our final breath
The joy and pain that we receive
Must be what we deserve
I was brought up to believe

Until our final breath
The joy and pain that we receive
Must be what we deserve
I was brought up to believe

All is for the best
Believe in what we're told
Blind men in the market
Buying what we're sold

Believe in what we're told
Until our final breath
While our loving Watchmaker
Loves us all to

Believe in what we're told
Until our final breath
While our loving Watchmaker
Loves us all to
Loves us all to death

I don't know if others will enjoy it, but my daughter introduced me to Twenty One Pilots just in time for the beginning of my deconversion and the Blurryface album is great for that.

I was going to post NIN and Green Day, but an oldie is good, too Smile

Dear God don't know if you noticed but
Your name is on a lot of quotes in this book
And us crazy humans wrote it, you should take a look
And all the people that you made in your image
Still believing that junk is true
Well I know it ain't, and so do you
Dear God
I can't believe in
I don't believe

I won't believe in heaven or hell
No saints, no sinners, no devil as well
No pearly gates, no thorny crown
You're always letting us humans down
The wars you bring, the babes you drown
Those lost at sea and never found
And it's the same the whole world 'round
The hurt I see helps to compound
The Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Is just somebody's unholy hoax
And if you're up there you'll perceive
That my heart's here upon my sleeve
If there's one thing I don't believe in

It's you
Dear God

Don't let those gnomes and their illusions get you down. They're just gnomes and illusions.
