There may be a correlation, but that doesn't mean it's the direct cause. I'd imagine there are other factors at work, such as looking at the type of porn and discussing the person's major sexual fantasies. I have trouble accepting that people rape because they don't look at enough porn, or that they look at too much porn. Would-be rapists might find an outlet in pornography, I suppose that's possible, even likely, but it still doesn't mean there is a direct, causative relationship between porn consumption and rape.

RE: Does wide access to pornography reduce sexual aggressiveness in a society?
In my opinion porn does not lead to rape or violence. I was always the odd desperate guy when it came to talking to women, which always lead to the look. You know, the one where it seems that they are looking right through you, and then the face that says "eww!". Porn is what I used to turn to when I became too desperate and my imagination was not enough. Now it has become something I check out for ideas to use on my wife. I hope she doesn't read this, but I am sure she would agree that it works. I am very good in bed. I have no intention of ever raping anyone, because I want someone who sees me as an equal and actually wants to be with me. If I ever found myself single again, porn would resume its' old role in my life until I found another willing female of the correct age of course. After seeing so many guys go to prison for stalking and other crimes related to sex, I decided that any woman that didn't want anyting to do with me didn't deserve me anyway. Since they have all the power in the court system in the U.S., why fight to get them? So, the logic that porn causes crime is wrong. It is probably thanks to porn that I never committed any violent crimes. The most I have been guilty of are minor traffic offences a bunch of years ago.

I don't know about the rest of society, but I know it has significantly increased my first-hand exposure to sexual assault(s) inflicted upon my person.

Where did anyone say it is a direct causation?
