Does your laptop have enough screens? The answer is no.
I like it, although the fact that the middle screen is recessed slightly is really bothering me for some OCD-related reason.

Would I buy one? No. Would I make my own version by super gluing two old monitors to the sides of my laptop? Maybe I would. Maybe...I...would... Consider

I've always been fascinated by this. I've always thought only super awesome hacker types did it, or something. Big Grin

I don't understand why people do this. Even 'hackers' or designers.
Like what's the fucking point? It's called alt + tab.

It's for writing reports while playing WoW and jerkin' it to dirty movies.

Sometimes you want to be able to view two different things at once.

My school's computer animation lab has two screens at each station. They come in really useful when you're trying to work with a model that has facial controls separate from the body (admittedly, I don't know how common this is). Instead of moving something and then flipping back to the model to see what happened, and effectively working blind the whole time, you make another window within the software and move it to the other screen so you can move things and actively see what's happening.

And I worked with reference footage only a little bit so I could be less accurate with it, but that's anther instance where you have something that's going to take up space and you're going to want visible while you also have another window open, and with that you have the problem of it not being within the animation software so it's going to end up being pushed back behind the software's window if you have any overlap.

(Plus there are at ton of different buttons in that software that spawn new windows but I don't actually know what they do so they could also be things you'd want visible while the original window is up but I wouldn't know. Blush This is also, of course, just one type of software. )

You could possibly deal with those situations (I did with the first one when I had to work on my own computer), or even both at once, on only one screen with some coordinated placing and size changing, but why someone would want some more space to work within instead of squishing everything in one screen is something I'd totally understand.

My son claims he does it, so he can look up answers for online tests -- you can't leave the page...but if he has a second screen he can switch easily between the two without technically leaving the page.

I watch or view two things at once constantly. You just slide two tabs too the left or right and can do that fitting for most sites on a 16inch laptop screeen.

I understand it really only in the world of video creators or people that live stream gaming stuff.

Yeah, I already said resizing windows can work.

I can just see why someone might have a preference for more room. I don't know how common it'd be, just that I can see the desire.

More screen real estate is a legit bonus, if you're a professional. It's not at all uncommon to have 2 or 3 screens attached to high end professional workstations, especially for video editing, compositing, animation, or 3D modeling. Alt-Tab works for most use case scenarios, but in every situation where having more screens is necessary, having a laptop would be equally superfluous. That laptop is an odd duck, and it's not even an original idea. Laptops with more than one screen have popped up here and there for the last decade, usually as CES (the Consumer Electronic Show, the year's biggest tech expo) showpieces. Only recently has nVidia started to remove the divide between desktop and laptop GPU's (graphics processing units), seeing laptops finally have access to high powered and fully functional desktop equivalent hardware, allowing for the obscene resolution required for a triple monitor setup.

It wouldn't be that obscene if they'd just stick with 1080p for these smaller screens. You're definitely not going to be gaming on a triple 4k display, unless you're playing something old school.
