Don't you hate it when...
You hear a song on the radio or wherever. You really like the music, and think, hey, I should download this. So you do, and that's when you get a chance to really listen to the words carefully...

And it turns out to be about some christian metaphor or other religious bullshit. Goddammitsomuch!!!!! Angry

My reason for being is to serve as a cat cushion. That is good enough for me. Wink

My opinion is that when some of these people write songs like that, they put just enough religious content that a religious person will get it as a religious song, but just enough that someone who isn't religious gets it on a base level. Take the song 'All Around Me' by Flyleaf, most of their Christian fans will argue that the song is about meeting God, while others argue that its a love song.

It is about meeting God ;-) but I totally get what you're saying. I've heard the newer Flyleaf CD is more overt, do you find this to be true?

Personally, I couldn't care less if the music contains Christian messages, or messages from any other religion. As long as it's good music, I don't care.

Seriously. I listen to the score from Les Miserables all the time, and that's full of Christian messages. Ditto Paul Simon's music, especially the ones like "Graceland". And Clutch's songs usually contain Biblical references. But I don't give a crap, because it's damn good music.

I love my job, but hate the christian music that gets slipped in several times a day.
Especially this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7qi2KlUffs

lyrics to it...yuuuuuuuck
Lord, I want to feel with Your heart
See the world through Your eyes
I want to be Your hands and feet
I want to live a life that leads

Ready yourselves, ready yourselves
Let us shine the light of Jesus in the darkest night
Ready yourselves, ready yourselves
May the powers of darkness tremble as our praises rise

Until the whole world hears, Lord, we are calling out
Lifting up Your name for all to hear the sound
Like voices in the wilderness we're crying out
And as the day draws near, we’ll sing until the whole world hears

Lord, let Your sleeping giant rise
Catch the demons by surprise
Holy nations sanctify
Let this be our battle cry

Ready yourselves, ready yourselves
Let us shine the light of Jesus in the darkest night
Ready yourselves, ready yourselves
May the powers of darkness tremble as our praises rise

Woah, woah, sing until the whole world hears
Woah, woah, sing until the whole world hears

I want to be Your hands and feet
I want to live a life that leads
To see You set the captive free
Until the whole world hears
And I pray the day will see
More of You and less of me
Lord, I want my life to be
The song You sing

Woah, woah, we’ll sing until the whole world hears
Woah, woah, we’ll sing until the whole world hears

Something something something Dark Side
Something something something complete
