RE: Drummers and percussionist thread.
This is something I would not normally do. However, this is simply funny.

BTW. I am NOT presenting this as a good solo or the drummer as a fine player. It is simply because it is a laugh.

Better drummers to follow. Big Grin

I will call him a liar and a dog here and now.

RE: Drummers and percussionist thread.
I lost a friend on April 6. He was a marvellous drummer who worked with Stevie Wonder for 12 years, Bowie for 8 and Roy Ayers and others during his long career.

Sadly he was blacklisted by the US Govt for going AWOL during the Vietnam war, so he was rarely credited on recordings he did. For example a sleeve might say "Drums. Stevie Wonder". It was usually Dennis.

I first met this amazing drummer 1n 1991. We became quite close and I have or rather had, a long standing invitation to stay at his residence whenever I wished. Sadly I never took him up on this offer.

Here is an article in Rolling Stone.

Here is Dennis the year following our meeting with Roy Ayers. He was a truly great drummer.

RIP my friend. I shall miss you.

RE: Drummers and percussionist thread.
Here's my little brother. My family is full of drummers, so much in fact that I'm the only one of my siblings that never took up percussion.

I cannot say enough about Hal Blaine. Again.

Here is a YouTube video dedicated to this astounding artist. 50 # 1's!!!! 150 top 10's.

No band can equal this.

RE: Drummers and percussionist thread.
Gavin Harrison. Best known as the drummer in prog rock outfit Porcupine tree. However he is more multi-faceted than that label. Possibly the greatest drummer in prog since Bruford quit.

Why"

Because he has feel and can groove. I have every recording he has made, including all the work he did with Italian pop artists.

First, The Chicken, by Jaco Pastorius.

With a Porcupine tree track..
