I fell off off the wagon a few months ago. Been playing in the dirt ever since.

RE: Dueling with drink?
When I had Lyme disease and no one could diagnose it, I spent 4 years in torturous hell. After one year of that I took to drinking - it was the best painkiller, physically and emotionally.

When I finally got the Lyme under control (thanks to an online group), the drinking stopped by itself because I was glad to be able to do shit again.

I was raised to view alcohol as part of a meal. Even as child I would get a small amount of wine or beer with the big meal of the day - just like a shot of wine in seltzer, or a shot of beer in sprite.

In still view it as part of a meal. Apart from some youthful craziness and then the Lyme episode, I just enjoy wine or beer with meals. All the really nice things alcohol can do for you are just after one or two glasses anyway. If it doesn't stop with that , it ends up getting ugly and there is nothing I hate more than a hangover - whether that is being ill or just tuckered out the next day.

Alcohol can temporarily pacify the beast, but in return it steals all the fun out of your life.

I don't miss it or lament not drinking for sure, Dom. I look at the upsides, and the personal downsides and I have no problem refraining.

Bought a new computer too, and went over to mom and dad's. Today was a good day.

Hi Cosmo,

Good news, and a new computer is a great idea. Plenty to do.

I know this thread is not about me, but I'm on day 7 of the wagon. It's about now that I start thinking that a drink is a good idea. But, feeling better and no hangovers is a big plus against that voice. We'll see.

Do keep us posted on your journey, and as others have said, don't worry too much if there are ups and downs. ATB.

D.
