RE: Dungeons and Dragons
No Evil aligned Characters it is my only restriction. You can be anything else but no Evil.

My top canidates:
Find familiar
Magic missile
Burning hands
Shocking grasp
Unseen servant
Charm
Which one should I pick?

That depends on you. I personally like the charm spell but burning hands would be good in melee. I would not go with find familiar as it is a one time spell (well until the familiar leaves or is killed) and it will be a long time before you get a second spell. Any of the others however are useful if you are clever about their application.

Okay, question time.
What effects does shocking grasp have when used in melee?
Is unseen servant like an invisible homie?
Can I use melee when enlarged? (Stomp.)
Can charm be used to send enemies into a trance while I kick their assess?

It is a touch spell so it can only be used in melee. It does 1d8+1 damage at lvl 1 (it gets a damage modifier of +1 per level of the casting wizard)

Yes but it is very weak. If you have ever seen the Disney version of the Sword in the Stone it is what is animating all the furniture in Merlins house when he is packing. You can use it to fetch items or clean but only in a limited area. It cannot fight as it has no corporeal form.

Enlarge at level 1 only increases your size by 10% and adds a 10% bonus to melee damage

You can charm an opponent and convince them to help you but if you attack them the spell is broken. You must also successfully convince them to do what you want them to do. The more out of character the harder they will resist. IE: Having them not attack is easier than having them join your side of a fight.

RE: Dungeons and Dragons
One of the things I need from you is your character's alignment. This is a rough guide to how they interact with the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alignment_(...6_Dragons)

Read that briefly and pick from Lawful Good, Lawful Neutral, Neutral Good, True Neutral, Chaotic Good, or Chaotic Neutral.

Druid = True Neutral.

Yeah thats a class requirement but most people are not bound. I forgot to say when filling out character sheets all I need from you is the top part filled out (name class etc) and the attribute points allocated. A list of starting equipment at the bottom as well. Don't worry bout the rest of the stuff unless you really want to.

I wouldn't mind having a go.

But I'd appreciate an explanation of the rules via Skype as I've not the first idea how to play.

Cheers

Ok I would like to choose Mage

I would not recommend playing a mage for your first char. in D&D! However that is entirely up to you. Mages are one of the hardest classes to play in 2nd edition AD&D!

Now you tell me Weeping
My friend Tiffany has informed me that you guys must be major nerds because she loves Dungeons and Dragons and she has never played this edition. Lol.
Umm is it not doable? I don't really want to change now but I will if I need to.

Swing with me a while, we can listen to the birds call, we can keep each other warm.
Swing with me forever, we can count up every flower, we can weather every storm.

It is doable and I will gladly help you if you have any questions! Mages are one of the hardest classes to play but they are also one of the most fun and at higher lvls they are the most powerful.
