A couple of guys highlight some of the more horrific passages of the bible. They then tell people the verses are from the Koran. The results won't surprise anyone on this forum, but shows the power of the bible to create more atheists!

Koran or Bible?

That was a fun video, it would have been more interesting if it was done in America, rather than in the Netherlands. Like with Trump and Tea party supporters or something.

"Tell me, muse, of the storyteller who has been thrust to the edge of the world, both an infant and an ancient, and through him reveal everyman." ---Homer the aged poet.

"In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it."

The fact that religious adherents are woefully ignorant of the contents of their holy books simply underscores the merit of rational discourse and debate.

I understand that the point of the video was to stop bigotry against Muslims. That Christians are just as guilty of cherry picking what scripture to follow and what not to follow as Muslims are. However, the specific verses that were used were taken completely out of context. They were no different than pulling sound bites from a political speech in order to vilify a politician.

"Leviticus 20:13 (ASV) And if a man lie with mankind, as with womankind, both of them have committed abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

Take this one for example. Can you explain to me how they took it out of context?

John 8:7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.

James 2:13 There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it.

Basically the bible teaches that homosexuality is a sin. However, all sin is weighed equally in the eyes of God. So homosexuality is no better than lying. If homosexuals are to be put to death then so should everyone else who has ever sinned. The bible teaches to love the sinner, not the sin. That mercy will triumph over judgment.

The focus is on grace. Grace is showing mercy and forgiveness even though the person does not deserve it. According to the OT law, anyone who violates the law "deserves" to be punished for it. However, because of grace alone that they are spared from the law.

I am sure the Koran is the same way. It too has very questionable commands by today's standards however if placed it the appropriate context it would have a very different message.

Yes, the Koran is exactly the same way. So the obvious question is why is the Bible God's book and the Koran is not? Or do you think the Koran has the same spiritual authority?

It was just a fucking apple man, we're sorry okay? Please stop the madness Laugh out load

Then I'm pretty glad god doesn't exist, because that is incredibly stupid. I find the "grace" thing to be a pitiful excuse for all the BS in the bible.
