Ending neg reps.
I respectfully suggest that the neg repping function be abandoned.
It is not a feature on other forums I have been involved with and seems to serve no useful purpose.
In open debate it is surely possible to vent one's anger, even abusively, and this allows all viewers including guests to follow up exactly what is happening and form their own opinions.
Neg repping allows for distortion as to why people may seemingly get annoyed over nothing, when others are unaware that unsavoury statements have been pushed to the top of the ratings list to draw attention to anyone who may be contemplating a positive point to that particular person.
Even positive points are pretty meaningless as they reflect only current considerations and can be removed if the recipient has a change of heart in some area.
I would suggest that 'likes' , non retreivable, in all categories could be tallied up, with section winners, over a given period, and perhaps an over all annual combined winner.

No.

Neg repping exists for a reason. It can be both useful and insightful; however, like most things, it can also be abused and misused.

For the most part, though, it is utilized correctly.

If you have positive repping it is only fair to have neg repping as well.

As someone who has just recently joined the forum I actualy really like the rep system. It give a heads up on some of the trolls and those who the comunity seems to respect. Seeing someone with a huge rep number by their name adds a little weight to their opinion.

I agree with KC - easier to spot the trolls.

There have been rare times where a neg rep is unwarranted, but it is something that is a valued tool for the forum - albeit there aren't specific rules on how reps are to be done but it's still fun when you want it to be.

I swear, all you've done for the last however long is bitch about my neg rep to you.
I would have thought you got the message ages ago that it's not going anywhere (but to the top of your rep page) and that the mods are not going to bend to your whim because you don't like it.
How many threads do you need to make on the matter before you finally get it through your thick skull and accept it?

I've never given anyone a negative rep. I just put them on ignore.
