In the end, I think one leads naturally to the other. Extricating oneself from literal interpretation of silly books is probably the harder part.

Socialistview, I read the Bible for the first time in 1963-64. I found it to be singularly unimpressive, a bunch of dark and legalistic stories from some alien culture. The Bible itself turned Me off the Bible.

Further reading convinced Me that the book is pigswill, almost entirely without merit. There are a few sensible proverbs here and there, Ecclesiastes is a decent read, and Matthew 25 has a few good ideas, but that's about it.

Of course you realize that your storybook god is omniscient and knew all this would happen from the get-go. He had omniscient pre-knowledge of all events, thoughts, actions, choices and sins even before he said "let there be light" but went ahead and created people anyway knowing millions would end up being tortured in eternal hell. There is no possible way you could call this creep "merciful". Unless of course..... your god glasses are so thick you can't see beyond your own dick.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

Psalms of Solomon is pretty decent, only because it's full of sex.

"My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him."

" He shall lie all night betwixt my breasts."
