Really? Is there compelling evidence of this?

I understand there is a side note in a passage written by Tacitus, whom didn't cite any references and didn't know Yeshua, didn't mention Yeshua by name, etc.
It was just noise, rather then verified fact.

Just because people believe in Yeshua, doesn't mean that he actually existed.

Yabut, if you want to argue that point, there's another thread for that. This thread was created specifically to get away from that discussion and discuss the evidence for Jesus's divinity. For the purposes of this thread, we assume that he existed.

RE: Evidence for Divinity
The evidence for divinity is right in front of you.

Why would so many people believe he is divine if he wasn't ?
How could so many people be wrong ? It's mathematically impossible that all of them would be wrong, therefore jesus is divine.
It's basic logic Smile

Plus the stories about a divine person would ONLY appear in a divine book. That's why you don't see any accounts of jesus in any other books.
That's got to be a miracle right there.

And if you look at all the people that wrote about jesus, some 70 years after his death, you just know that jesus had to tell them what happened. How else would they know, if a divine jesus hadn't come down from sparkly heaven to tell them ?
Case closed atheists....jesus was divine. No doubt about it.

Ah, OK. Fair enough.

BUT....

If you have to assume that he existed (due to lack of evidence), then you don't have any evidence of him doing mundane things (such as being born, going to school, having a job, writing a book, dying).

Now if you don't have any evidence of mundane things, then how do you expect to have any evidence of him doing magical things?

If there was evidence of a Jesus or Yeshua doing something that was either magical or illusionary then that would also count as evidence of his existence.

So by applying basic logic.
If you don't have evidence of Jesus' existence, then you don't have evidence of Jesus' magical powers.

Is there evidence that some guy walked on water? No!
Is there evidence that some guy rose the dead? No
Is there evidence that some guy cured epilepsy by banishing demons? No
Is there evidence that some guy died and then came back to life 3 days later? No
Is there evidence that some guy was born of a virgin? No.

What event is there that we are supposed to assess as to whether it was magical or not?
