Do you mean the word? Try dictionary.com.

Or do you mean evidence for atheism?

Please clarify.

Evidence (n): the available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid

Fact (n): A thing that is demonstrably true.

True (adj): In accordance with fact or reality.

Valid (adj): having a sound basis in logic or fact; reasonable or cogent

But you could have looked all those up. So what's your agenda then?

As far as your thread title goes, first indicate which god you are talking about.

If that god is invisible, then this conversation is a non-starter, as invisible gods are inherently non-falsifiable and can be neither proven nor disproven.

As an empiricist I do not afford belief to things that cannot be proven from evidence.

In addition, evidence for something has to actually be evidence FOR that thing. For example, lightning can start a fire but the fact that something is burned is not itself evidence for a lightning strike.

RE: Evidence for the existence of God
Evidence God does not exist.

God, as defined by major religions, such as Christianity or Islam, relying on what are claimed to be revelations from God, soon becomes entangled in sef-contradictions, logical problems, and other similar issues. It seems then there is good evidence here God so described by these religions does not exist. To save God (appearances) if follows that one must abandon these revelations as being meaningful, and must redefine God So burden of proof shifts to the theists whose new definition of God will be examined for similar problems.

There is no proof this theistic God exists and much evidence that God does not exist.

Could you define god before we get too deep into this again?

RE: Evidence for the existence of God
Present your evidence. Don't start a semantics argument over the established definitions of words because you want the word "evidence" to mean something other than its defined meaning.

Yes, sorry, the question was a bit vague.

The basic claim of atheists is that there is no proof or credible evidence for the existence of God. So, in that context, I am asking you to please define terms. What do you mean by "evidence", or "proof"?

What evidence would you require as a prerequisite for belief in God?

Thanks.

The basic claim of theists is that they have evidence of their god. So, start there and present the evidence you believe you have for your god. Then we can tell you if it is convincing evidence that your god is real, or if it is convincing evidence that you believe it is real.
