I don't like this portmanteau. Creationists often say "evolution is evil".
How can a theory possibly be evil? A theory is proven and valid OR false. That's it. (not considering the meaning of the word theory used as a synonym for hypothesis) Theories don't have ethics, they just explain scientific occurences. Even creationists mostly admit micro-evolution. Macro-evolution is just the same thing over a longer timespan until two species have differentiated to a point where they can't interbreed anymore. It's just harder to find proof in everyday life (but there is). However: how can this possibly be evil? Can the theory of gravity be evil as well? Or the theory of relativity? Or the circumference of a circle? The Bible says pi=3, so current theories about calculating its circumference contradict the bible. So, shouldn't geometry be considered evil as well? "Infinitus est numerus stultorum." (The number of fools is infinite) |

RE: Evilution?
The theory of gravity is evil. Just think of all the people that fall to their death every year!

RE: Evilution?
Yes, well said
![]() I put that text there to help spark healthy debate, also because some or the terms in the forum description are commonly used amongst creationists - the name of this forum! With keywords like that it might help them find it! |

RE: Evilution?
I think most of them confuse Darwin's Theory of Evolution , with Social Darwinism.
As far as I know Darwin was very much against allowing natural selection to cull the human population. Example : Creationist quote : Quote:With savages, the weak in body or mind are soon eliminated. We civilized men, on the other hand, do our utmost to check the process of elimination. We build asylums for the imbecile, the maimed and the sick. Thus the weak members of civilized societies propagate their kind. No one who has attended to the breeding of domestic animals will doubt that this must be highly injurious to the race of man. Hardly anyone is so ignorant as to allow his worst animals to breed.Darwin's actual words : Quote:With savages, the weak in body or mind are soon eliminated; and those that survive commonly exhibit a vigorous state of health. We civilized men, on the other hand, do our utmost to check the process of elimination. We build asylums for the imbecile, the maimed and the sick; we institute poor-laws; and our medical men exert their utmost skill to save the life of every one to the last moment. There is reason to believe that vaccination has preserved thousands, who from a weak constitution would formerly have succumbed to small-pox. Thus the weak members of civilized societies propagate their kind. No one who has attended to the breeding of domestic animals will doubt that this must be highly injurious to the race of man. It is surprising how soon a want of care, or care wrongly directed, leads to the degeneration of a domestic race; but excepting in the case of man himself, hardly anyone is so ignorant as to allow his worst animals to breed. I think that's why many believe that evolution is evil or something. |

RE: Evilution?
Evolution is evil to Creationists because it is yet another way in which their Deity is rendered obsolete. They don't actually care about evidence or whats right, they just stand behind their God however clear it is that he isn't there.
Ferdinand: Ato told me on xbox that he dislikes me ..... my life right now (posts vid called 'How To Tie A Noose') Atothetheist: I like you Ferdy, Don't kill yourself Ferdinand: I wasn't going to kill myself. That noose was for you. |
