This is where I get off. The point of a debate is to share ideas, and I'm just getting the impression that's not what is being done here.

When someone starts a conversation with "Obama is a socialist" they're not interested in sharing ideas and are being intellectually dishonest.

Now, are you going to address my points or not?

Here are my sources btw. I'd like to see yours If you have any

When President Obama introduced Jeffrey Immelt as the chairman of his jobs council, he said of Immelt, “He understands what it takes for America to compete in the global economy.” Apparently this includes corporations avoiding paying taxes. In addition, in 2009 and 2010, GE closed 28 manufacturing plants in the United States and it now employs more people overseas than it does in the U.S.

I don't expect ConditionYellow to address any of these points with factual information

So when a corporation sell a widget for $10 and makes $5 profit per widget, and the government says "we're going to tax you $2" for every widget you sell, what do you think happens?

The corporation doesn't just roll over. It hikes up the price of the widget to $12.

How can you claim to be a capitalist and be so woefully uninformed as to how markets work and the concepts of supply and demand?

And speaking of woefully uninformed: the current corporate tax rates have been in place since the Bush administration and the Republican majority in both houses set them. The Democrats have not changed these at all. And, jobs are not leaving the US because of taxes, I assure you. Jobs are leaving because Americans won't work for $2 a day and there are people in the world who will. So, that's where all our manufacturing jobs go. All of them. We would have to set the corporate tax rate at some negative percentage to offset the impact on the labor costs.

Oh, for the record, the average effective corporate tax rate in the US is something like 14% - 15%.

Finally, why would being a socialist mean you want to bankrupt the country? How could you pay for all your government run programs if you have no money to pay for them? I mean, as conspiracy theories go, that one doesn't even pass the logic test. The idea that one is a socialist AND one wants to bankrupt the country is like saying ... well, there is no real good example because the concept is just too ridiculous. I don't know, maybe it's like being a Jewish Nazi? A black Klansman? Two things that just don't work together.
