RE: Face it...
Trump's economic policies will destroy us. He's going to privatize as much as he can--which means access only for those who can afford it to healthcare and education. Then he's going to build an expensive wall that is nothing more than a symbol of how much America dislikes brown people. And he's going to place tarriffs--which are another form of tax--that will fall squarely on: The middle class and lower class.

So the rich will get richer--at least until the middle class disappears, and our consumer economy stops buying shit because they can't afford it. Economy down the toilet. Oh and let's not forget: MORE SPENDING ON THE MILITARY! Of course. Not like we spend more than the next 9 nations combined or anything... So basically our deficit is going to go through the roof.

And that's not to mention what he'll do with SCOTUS. He'll also pass FADA so that Christians can discriminate against those 'icky gays and transgenders'. But no, his campaign totally isn't homophobic or transphobic. Nor is it racist for wanting to build a symbolic wall that does nothing.

Indeed they did. In the Primary.

Conservatives lost the General Election... despite being more popular.

Huh

Why? because Hillary's economic policies would absolutely devastate the economy to a greater extent than Obama's policies already have.

Agreed. It would have been a continuation of what Reagan/Thatcher started.

This version of Capitalism is heading over the cliff.

I've no idea how Trump plans to change anything though.

He will repeal and replace a healthcare law that is a disaster.

Replace with what? I'm guessing there'll be some form of socialised healthcare system introduced at the State's level but I've seen no proposals for anything. The repeal (with no better replacement) will be a big vote loser so I can't see the Republican establishment going for that. They've had the luxury of opposition (against Obamacare in words only) but now they have to crawl from under their rocks and do something.

That'll be fun to watch. Big Grin

Actually, yes, he could. Everyone could have a lower rate and there would be a higher revenue if ... big if ... he could just get the avoiders and evaders to pay what they owe.

That would be "smart".

Yes

I think "devastated" is a bit strong but I do wish they'd stop 'exporting' explosives to e.g. Pakistan (especially when I'm there).

I can only hear that now in Bernie's accent.

And why is it always "crumbling"? Hasn't it all crumbled by now? There must be a more original adjective to use. Consider

Neither Trump nor Pence has even taken a baby step in that direction yet. Trump has done nothing but try to offend as many people as possible, and Pence is a fucking creationist theocrat. Why would you expect any atheist to support him?

If the new administration actually does good things for America (all of America, not just rich white Christian males), I will applaud them. But I'm not holding my breath.

As for Ayn Rand and "Objectivism" -- she was a third-rate hack novelist who dabbled in philosophy. Her "philosophy" is laughable simplistic.

I will give you the comment you made about Ayn Rand...I disagree, but I understand. What I was trying to get across is that the best economists over the years, such as Hayek and Ludwig von Mises, were atheists, so WHY do you persist in believing socialism and fascism are the way to prosperity; it just isn't so.

Why would an atheist vote for him? I provided policy-oriented reasons why. You are simply (most of the people here and the atheists I know) statists who believe for some odd reason that progressivism -- rather than freedom -- is best for atheists. That is bullshit. Stop being unhinged, already!

Stop equating theocrats and White supremacists with "freedom", already. As soon as Trump disassociates himself from such people, I might consider that he is at least trying to be "reasonable".

I believe in "freedom", too -- but my definition of freedom means freedom for everybody -- not just corporations and rich people -- and recognizes that freedoms often conflict. In particular, my freedom to breathe clean air and drink clean water "trumps" the freedom of extractive industries to pollute same. Nothing is as simple as rich Republicans pretend that it is. Some limitations on freedom are desirable. We call them laws.

Sounds like you're a little amped up about this. Drinking Beverage

Maybe a nice walk would do you some good. When I start feeling fussed about something a nice walk soothes me.

Answer my question please.

Do you think it is acceptable for a man to forcibly grope a woman's genitals and to use his authority and/or celebrity to avoid prosecution?

This is a fairly simple, yes/no question, in my opinion.

Actually, that's the one policy I'm rather in favour of.

The petty restrictions on hand-genital interaction (for all sexes) as a simple social greeting are quite frankly Victorian and should be relegated to the bygone era of Puritanism. It's a denial of one of our basic pithecoidal FREEDOMS!

I have no problem being greeted that way so why would anyone else object?

The SJWs can always ask the Mormons to adapt their magic underwear to add an electric shock defense system and they can wear those if they find the genital-greeting too "problematic".
