Well I'm a Christian so I'll have to disagree with the assumption that religious belief means we're going backwards.

I think it all depends where you live, a lot of kids at my school think being an Atheist is cool. That's fine and they have every right to believe what they want but they're often very offensive towards religious kids which is what concerns me.

James 1:27
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world"

"Atheists express their rage against God although in their view He does not exist." C.S. Lewis

I'm actually very encouraged by today's younger generation. The trend is clear, at least to me, that they are trending in the right direction...

This seems encouraging but it appears the youth still believe in the myths they're just not affiliating themselves with any one religion. A quote from the article, "young adults' beliefs about life after death and the existence of heaven, hell and miracles closely resemble the beliefs of older people today."

We are failing our youth when they believe in superstition over science.

I don't think being religious makes someone good or bad but it is a step backwards.

Do you believe in Adam and Eve over Evolution? If so that's going backwards
Do you think Noahs ark is a fact even though it has been proven impossible? If so that's going backwards
Do you believe Jesus was born of a virgin although it isn't medically possible? If so that's going backwards

In fact what one belief held by a religious person is a move forward?

That's really a matter of opinion. To someone who has decided to accept faith, these beliefs are a step forward not backwards. Denying some logic and science to believe the aforementioned instances takes faith - faith in a higher power. If you are taking steps towards more faith, then this is moving forward.

For instance, if you are traveling south and then decided to go north, would turning around be going backwards? It would be for the people traveling south, but for the northbound person, they are making steps in their right direction.

Again, it's a matter of opinion, and your opinion shouldn't vilify another person's opinion. You can voice your opinion on their opinion all your want but that doesn't make theirs wrong. You just see things differently - not wrongly.

It's actually the definition of the root word behind Repentance. To repent literally means turn back around and go in the right direction.

Not that it really means anything. Just wanted to show off my Pastorly Powers.

It was just a fucking apple man, we're sorry okay? Please stop the madness Laugh out load

I'm tired of "like". Facebook needs a "flush" button. Or a filter that turns every religious post into a Lolcatz pic.

My girlfriend is mad at me. Perhaps I shouldn't have tried cooking a stick in her non-stick pan.

I'd not pictured anything so orderly as escorting - or is that a euphemism for "booted off the front step by the long boot of your replacement" Tongue
