Father's Day
Father's Day is swiftly approaching.

What is everyone planning to do for their dads this year?

Well, mine's dead, so there's that.

RE: Father's Day
I plan on doing what I do everyday around here for my husband.

Worship the quicksand he so often treads.

Why is this thread in the atheism/theism section?

Is father's day suddenly bibical?

Because I could have sworn it was invented by Hallmark.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around

'Course he didn't mention mother's day. Dodgy

Hadn't planned anything as of yet. Would be nice to do something special, but seeing as how I didn't do a whole lot for mother's day it would seem shitty to do anything big for dad. So for my mother's sake I can't very well make a big deal out of it or she might feel slighted. No

You got any big plans?

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

RE: Father's Day
My father rejected the belief in 'days' a long time ago.

I think I inherited that.

He actually gets a little shirty if I call him on a 'day'. To him it smacks of 'having to' rather than 'wanting to'.

So, I usually call him a few days before his birthday.

He particularly dislikes Fathers' Day as it connects (in his mind) to Mothers' Day with its Nazi connotations.
Ohmy

And Jeremy, it's good to see you joining in the more trivial parts of the forum Thumbsup

If I wasn't rushing to the airport, I'd move this thread out of this section.

Consider

Unless there is a specific kind of 'father' to which you are referring.
