Favorite Christmas Movie?
I'm sure we've all sat through them, most of us were probably raised Christian to some degree.

Anyway, my son watched the "Muppets Christmas Carol," over the weekend. Then watched it again. He loves it. I think this is probably my favorite Christmas movie. First, as adaptations of that story go, it's entertaining. How can you not like Muppets? Secondly it's about everything I like about Christmas - charity, giving, family, etc. and they don't mention Jesus once! This is what Christmas could be for all people, an occasion for some fucking joy and merriment.

Honorable mention goes to some Christmas movies wherein Christmas is only tangentially or incidentally involved, like "Die Hard," "Lethal Weapon," and "Love Actually."

Christmas Vacation, probably.

No matter how many times I see it, I still laugh.

Yeah, Clark Griswold never disappoints, other than Vegas Vacation that is.

I like the cartoon version of The Grinch. The Grinch's evil smile makes me laugh. Tongue

When I was a kid, we recorded a movie of Garfield's Christmas. I watched it as an adult a couple times, and I still like it. I like Garfield's sarcastic, dry humor.

Their thoughts are someone else's opinions,
their lives a mimicry,
their passions a quotation."

When I was still a Christian, I would say It's a Wonderful Life, but I think it's intolerably sappy now.

I do like the Polar Express, just for it's pure embrace of myth while underplaying the religious overtones.

A Christmas Story is always fun though.

A couple come to mind.

The little known, We're No Angels, 1955 with Humphrey Bogart and Peter Ustinov. And Peter Ustinov is the master of drool.

It has a slow pace that most young people might not like but that's exactly why I like it.

Then there's Bad Santa. What else can I say about that movie.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.
