RE: Favorite Song Lyrics
This song really strikes a chord with me, for some reason. It's about a ghost who is damned to roam the earth; even after Mankind has long-since passed and the world has become a barren wasteland. It's tragic but beautiful.

A specter writhes
Too faint for mortal eyes
A mere ululation

A deathless witness
Lurid in demise
Spawned from pain and tribulation

Unsound
Undead

Evanescing
An orphaned want, marooned
In disembodied mayhem, howling

Just a shadow
Waning with the moon
Ever yearning, ever prowling

Doomed to linger, a wraith in a withered world
You will never sleep again
Lifeless eyes, forever haunted by the void
Gaze upon the tomb of man

Cold and dried up
The ravaged plains lie dead
Buried ruins sing of the end

Faces fade away
Frozen in convulsion
In broken temples, gods quietly die

And gales roam unrestrained
Lick the horror from revulsion
Beneath the weeping stars in the sky

Through profound pain comes profound knowledge.
Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto! Ridi del duol, che t'avvelena il cor!

O, sinner do not stray from the straight and narrow way
For the Lord is surely watching what you do
If you approach the Devil's Den, turn 'round-don't enter in!
Lest the hand of the Almighty fall on you

He'll fuck you up, yes, God will fuck you up
If you dare to disobey his stern command
He'll fuck you up, don't you know he'll fuck you up
So you better do some prayin' while you can

Long ago a man named Lot had a wife he thought was hot
But she could not stop her black and sinful ways
You know it was her own damn fault when God turned that bitch to salt
That's the way he used to work back in those days

He fucked'em up, he really fucked'em up
When the people went and turned their backs on him
He can fuck you up, no shit-he'll fuck you up
Just like he fucked the people up back then

I used to have a friend named Ray who walked that evil way
He cursed and drank and broke his neighbors fence
You know Ray was full aware that some sheep were over there
And he knew them in the biblical sense

God fucked him up, he went and fucked Ray up
Went and payed him back for all his wicked sins
He fucked him up, fucked that boy completely up
Now he's married to a Presbyterian

RE: Favorite Song Lyrics
This is one of the first songs I heard on the radio after my brother committed suicide in June of last year. Sadcryface I know it's kind of depressing but it is still one of my favorites. The parts I put in bold are what really hit me when I heard this for the first time. He was only 32 when he died so in my eyes he "broke fast."

"Glass"

Trying to live and love,
With a heart that can't be broken,
Is like trying to see the light with eyes that can't be opened.
Yeah, we both carry baggage,
We picked up on our way, so if you love me do it gently,
And I will do the same.

We may shine, we may shatter,
We may be picking up the pieces here on after,
We are fragile, we are human,
We are shaped by the light we let through us,
We break fast, cause we are glass.
Cause we are glass.

I'll let you look inside me, through the stains and through the cracks,
And in the darkness of this moment,
You see the good and bad.
But try not to judge me, 'cause we've walked down different paths,
But it brought us here together, so I won't take that back.

We may shine, we may shatter,
We may be picking up the pieces here on after,
We are fragile, we are human,
We are shaped by the light we let through us,
We break fast, cause we are glass.

We might be oil and water, this could be a big mistake,
We might burn like gasoline and fire,
It's a chance we'll have to take.

We may shine, we may shatter,
We may be picking up the pieces here on after,
We are fragile, we are human,
And we are shaped by the light we let through us,
We break fast, cause we are glass.
We are glass.

I can't stand Country... But I liked this one. I'm sure I wouldn't have gone to it had I known it was the genre I least like. But the fact that you put it because it reminded you of your brother touched me Heart

My brother-in-law also committed suicide; This June 15 will be three years since he left us. I miss him all the time. I got all emotional listening to it...Sadcryface

Sending positive thoughts to you, friend = )

Thanks Peanut! I think this is one of the many country songs that could be considered a "crossover." It could be played on a pop station or even easy listening. I do listen to a lot of country and rock but my emotional, melanacholy side was peeking through last night.

RE: Favorite Song Lyrics
This one used to be my ringtone.

Take This Job and Shove It.

Take this job and shove it.
I ain't working here no more.
My woman done left And took all the reasons I was working for.
You better not try to stand in my way As I'm walking out the door.
Take this job and shove it I ain't working here no more.

I've been working in this factory For nigh on fifteen years.
All this time I watched my woman Drowning in a pool of tears.
And I've seen a lot of good folks die that had a lot of bills to pay.
I'd give the shirt right off my back If I had the guts to say

Take this job and shove it.
ain't working here no more.
My woman done left And took all the reasons I was working for
You better not try to stand in my way As I'm walking out the door.
Take this job and shove it I ain't working here no more.

Well that foreman he's a riggity dog The line boss he's a fool
Got a brand new flattop hair cut Lord he thinks he's cool
One of these days I'm gonna blow my top And that sucker he's gonna pay
Lord I can't wait to see their faces When I get the nerve to say

Take this job and shove it I ain't working here no more.
My woman done left And took all the reasons I was working for.
You better not try to stand in my way As I'm walking out the door.
Take this job and shove it I ain't working here no more.
Take this job and shove it I ain't working here no more.
Take this job and shove it.
