No, it was Mary. According to Catholic dogma, when Mary was conceived god prevented her from "inheriting" original sin so she was born pure. It has nothing to do with the virgin birth which produced Jesus.

Since she had no original sin, and supposedly led a sinless life, and death is the penalty for sin that means she could not die which is the basis for the assumption which has her "taken up" rather than dying.

Catholic dogma is even more fucked up than most people realize.
