Jesus Christ! Went to read a bit about it and this is what its writer said:

"It seemed intended by the blessed providence of God that I should be blind all my life, and I thank him for the dispensation. If perfect earthly sight were offered me tomorrow I would not accept it. I might not have sung hymns to the praise of God if I had been distracted by the beau­tiful and interesting things about me."

Every now and again I'm startled anew at how much religion has held humanity back and to what an extent it has crushed (and continues to this day to crush) our spirit. Sad beyond words.

So apparently my mother-in-law decided to come visit with her yappy annoying dog. Somehow (probably one of my wife's sisters) told her that we're atheists. So the conversation went something like this:

Mom#2: "So you're an atheist now?"
Wife: "Yeah....?"
Mom#2: "Do you have any faith at all?"
Wife: "No, not really. I have a hard time believing anything in the bible, not to mention all the horrible things in the world. I don't think there's one that cares if one does exist."
Mom#2: "Oh."
Wife: "You also forced it on us as kids, and I never really felt like I got to make up my own mind."

Not 30 minutes later as they're cooking:


Now I get to stay home while my wife goes to mass. Feel bad for her. Lol. I just found it funny since she mentioned that she forced it on them as kids, and then she demanded not even 30 minutes later to go to mass. Damned atheists, gotta make'em go to church AND LEARN BOUT' JESUS!
