Fear of (Leaving a Jealous or Benign) God
I was listening to the Atheist Experience and picked up on something said by Jeff Dee about his de-conversion moment.

I wanted to make a note of it.

To summarise:

For those who are scared of the consequences of leaving their faith (apostasy) ...
Is your god the benign, loving, friendly (e.g. Paulian) god?

Is your god one of the jealous warrior gods (like Yahweh)?

If the former, there will be no negative consequences (Hell etc.) and in fact, your god should be proud of you for using the cognitive skills (that he/she/it gave you).

If the latter, ask yourself this... Do you lie awake at night worrying that you are not worshipping one or more of the other gods?

Of course, there are some cults where it makes no difference... you have been pre-selected for Heaven or Hell. If you believe this is a possibility, it's probably best to reject it's immorality and get on with your life or ... good luck dealing with the guilt and shame and horror of the impending carnage.

Look for 35:02 - 37:08 if you don't want to watch the whole thing or have difficulty watching Matt in drag.
