I remember that I can not resist preposterously huge flowers. Shy

You're seriously considering staying on Broke Brownback Mountain 'cause it's got big sunflowers. We grow big sunflowers in Maryland too and we got Black Eyed Susans too. Take a break from looking at the pretty flowers and look at the shit that's piling up past your ankles and up to your knees. Kansas is like the model for what happens when you take trickle-down economics to its logical conclusion. Pretty soon you will have no public education system. And your public works ain't far behind. You'll be digging your own latrines. Why on God's green earth would you want to stay there? You just can't quit it?

Why, does he have some sort of Christlike sunflower vendetta? [Image: _Sunflower_la__by_BlackDragonAJ89.gif]

(Plus, Brian Cox has the intelligence of at least half the forum members combined, do you think I would actually care Angel )

PS. No one who's shown me not just a decent but a great cover of Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay can have a pedestrian taste in music (plus, the clip has the added bonus of not just showing my beloved Rio, but a place very close to where I used to live Heart )

PPS. I think I read that he didn't really reach the bottom of the abyss because it's way too deep to go without oxygen, just a ledge or something (doesn't make it any less impressive!).

HeartHeartHeart

‘Cause I just watched the lovely Thomas Pesquet and the always smiling Peggy Whitson (and Oleg!) launch into space and still can't stop smiling (nor can I seem to concentrate on work, but let’s not go there Rolleyes )

Also, the moment (well, one of the moments) they went outside and were greeted by reporters and friends and who have you, had this song (which I remembered I knew from my childhood) playing in the background and it was just so perfect for the moment and everyone looked so happy and it was just a wonderful, wonderful moment. Heart

Much needed these days…

And the stars even so, the stars even so
Are getting closer but remain as cold.
And just like in the time of eclipse, just like in the time of eclipse,
We seek the light and dream earthly dreams.

And we dream not of the thunderous spaceport,
Not of this icy azure,
We're dreaming of the grass outside our homes,
The green, green grass.

The earth in the illuminator, the earth in the illuminator,
The earth in the illuminator is visible...
The way a son would miss his mother, the way a son would miss his mother,
We miss the earth - there is no other.

And the stars even so, the stars even so
Are getting closer but remain as cold.
And just like in the time of eclipse, just like in the time of eclipse,
We seek the light and dream earthly dreams.

And dream we not of the thunderous spaceport,
Not of this icy azure,
We're dreaming of the grass outside our homes,
The green, green grass.

And fly we like orbits,
Through untouched paths,
Embroidering the space with meteors.
The risk and bravery are justified,
The music of the space
Is sipping into our formal chat.

In dim smoke,
The earth in the illuminator -
Sun-set mingled with sun-rise.
The son is missing his mother, missing his mother,
And the mother is waiting for her son,
And so is the earth.

And dream we not of the thunderous spaceport,
Not of this icy azure,
We're dreaming of the grass outside our homes,
The green, green grass.

And dream we not of the thunderous spaceport,
Not of this icy azure,
We're dreaming of the grass outside our homes,
The green, green grass.

I thought of Vera when I saw that Trump's pussy grabbing bus dialog was nominated for the Bad Sex Writing award but was disqualified because the award only goes to fiction. Anyways, this year's nominees for your reading pleasure. Hobo
