Shocked Finally saying hello
Hello!

I've been an atheist for probably 10 years, but am married to a "cradle Catholic" who has no room for or interest in discussion of theology or philosophy. I joined his church shortly after we married almost 20 years ago (I believed in God at that time but was "unchurched" and I didn't figure God cared what the sign on the building said, whether Catholic or Baptist). I spent every single Sunday morning after church in the car filling his ears with all my efforts to reconcile whatever happened in church that day with the stuff my Evangelical dad had taught me growing up, along with the skeptical/scientific/logical processes I inherited from my mom. All I ever got back was "I don't know." At some point along the way I realized I just didn't buy the bible stories anymore, and over the last year have really begun to immerse myself in atheist/humanist ideas and materials. I'm here because I enjoy pleasant conversations and logical pursuits, and I'm not getting that at home.

Thanks for reading and for being here! I look forward to talking more.

Finally saying hello
Welcome.

The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.

Welcome. Pleasant? Not always, but we have an IGNORE feature for that.

Check out my now-defunct atheism blog. It's just a blog, no ads, no revenue, no gods.
