You know, I heard someone mention that climate change and a fairly small rise in sea levels (I think they said 5ft rise) would result in the loss of Florida.... and I have to admit... I didn't really see that as a loss >.>

FUCK YOU RICK! I am tired of morons who don't want to grow up blaming sane people for the bullshit they were not around to write.

I concur, not just my parents but almost everyone I've ever met in my life (that didn't go to college, or didn't get very far in college, or went to a religious college) has always been very vocal and openly hostile to any education or educational institution. I know a lot of this is... how do I put it.... intellect makes them feel inferior so they lash out at any sign of intellect.

Which is funny since the mark of an intelligent person is to celebrate when you find someone more knowledgeable and more intelligent than yourself. After all those with more knowledge and understanding are treasure troves of learning, it's like finding a burred treasure. It's not something that should make you feel inferior it's something that should make you feel like you just won the lottery. In my opinion anyway. Ignorance is never offensive, choosing to remain ignorant however when an opportunity to dispel such ignorance, or showing no interest and making no effort to ever dispel ignorance is.
