For Math Aficionados (Geeks)
A while back there was a thread with a heated argument regarding probabilities (blue marbles anyone?). Here is an interesting article that presents and works out 9 math problems that aren't intuitive. Have fun.

Statistics should REALLY be a mandatory class at a high-school level (or even earlier). It would save so much trouble...

Fun fact: you can double your pleasure by allowing negative probability for continuous distributions - this is essentially how to derive the mathematical basis for quantum mechanics.

Good stuff! Here's some more.

Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.

Thanks for this. Here is a link for a big talk by Dr. Al Bartlett. He gives a talk about how people don't understand the exponential function: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vII-GxsrR...re=related
