Forman Cuban leader Fidel Castro died.
I mean, clearly wasn't the worst by any close means of the 20th century dictator scale but still a tyrant. It's not like he started ww3 like the next great dictators.

I do wonder what the trump and gop congress will do with the Cuban relation, I still knew some old men I worked with bothered by the easing up of embargos on Cuba a year or two back.

Trump will make better cigars. He will make huuuge cigars, enormous cigars. He will make more of the best cigars than anyone else, and Cuba will pay for them.

RE: Forman Cuban leader Fidel Castro died.
Fidel Castro was many things to many people. A devil to some, a saint to others - like any human I suppose. The impression I have is that there is little love for him in the US. He was considered a tyrant that persecuted opponents and sent many into exile. In the US, the overwhelming view is there is simply no redeeming factor to Fidel Castro. If you follow mainstream media, he's never done anything worth celebrating and that is all there is to it.

While there are legitimate reasons to dislike the man, I don't quite see the same venom directed at the Saudi royal family. Or pre-1991 Saddam Hussein. Tyrants that are by any rational measure responsible for far more world misery than Fidel Castro.

Elsewhere, the opinions about him are more forgiving. He is considered an anti-apartheid icon. Cuban troops fought in Angola against apartheid South African forces at a time when Nelson Mandela was still considered the leader of a terrorist organization in the US.

In 2005, Cuba offered free medical assistance to Hurricane Katrina victims that was rejected. Cuba has also given free medical treatment to thousands of victims from the Chernobyl disaster.

While Cuba needs to open up the political space, I see Fidel Castro as not getting a balanced shake from the US. Especially when you consider that he replaced Fulgencio Batista, a pretty brutal dictator by his own merits.

Kind of interesting in a way; hardly a good guy, but still an interesting life, look how many assassination attempts he survived. Especially in relation to the U.S. We welcomed him here with a parade in New York City, before he sided with the Soviets. He also could have become a professional baseball player. Instead, he went the route of the brutal dictator. I know a few Baptist ministers who helped run house churches in Cuba during his rule.

As for those joking about a Trump casino, he had already broken the Cuban embargo back in the 1990s, so I guess why not make a casino now? Make Havana a Las Vegas again!

How do you build a moat around an island?
Consider

The first step is to get the Chinese to build an artificial island completely surrounding the original island so you have something to build the moat on.

I can only dream of living a life with enough significance that people celebrate when I die.

Indeed, a total living nightmare... well not living I guess.
