Forum Principles & Culture, Ethics and Behavior
Welcome to TTA forum - we're happy you found us!

TTA’s forum is a place for discussion. It exists to provide conversation, support, encouragement, information and community to the atheist, the agnostic, the freethinker and all those interested in seeking knowledge and wisdom.

This forum is based on the principle of allowing people to freely exchange ideas. We allow swearing, sexual language and ad hominems. You have a near-total right to say whatever you want to say and use any type of language to convey that message; however, you are solely responsible for the consequences of your actions. Threads and posts become the property of the community once they are posted and will not be deleted other than in exceptional circumstances. Please note, that this forum isn't just for atheists; it's for everyone, no matter what race, religion, gender or sexual preference.
We have an open door policy and this level of freedom is not to everyone's taste. We have very few policies and these are documented below.

Culture, Ethics and Behavior
The following are policies that relate to members' conduct;

1) No spam
This applies to all posts made by members on the forum (see Information & Resources thread for policy on spambots). Spam is defined as 'repetitious posts or threads with the same or similar content'. The consequence of failing to comply with the policy is potentially having your account banned. Exceptions to the policy will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by the Administration. The Administration rely upon the membership to identify offending behavior.

2) No Sock Puppets
This relates to any member who creates two or more accounts. It can also include posting on behalf of a banned member, without the approval of the forum Administration. Having simultaneous active accounts is seen as a violation and will result in all your accounts being banned (including your original account). Posting on behalf of a banned member may lead to you being considered an effective sock-puppet of the banned member. This may lead to your account facing restrictions and, in extreme cases, temporary or permanent bans, at the Admin's discretion. If you feel that you have a legitimate need to create a second account this can be discussed with the Administration, or if you know someone who shares your IP who wishes to sign up on the forum, please send a private message (PM) to an Admin in advance so as to avoid any confusion. The Moderators use sophisticated tools to monitor all new member's first posts and threads.

3) No Porn, Nude Images, or Discussions on the Merits of Paedophilia
Some content has been deemed inappropriate and not aligned with the over-arching principles of the forum. See Information & Resources thread for more details.

4) No Threats
This applies to intimidating threats of physical violence or interfering with, or threatening to interfere with, someone's life beyond the forum. This excludes threats to report legal issues. This behavior can result in your account being banned and depending on the nature of the threats, your details being passed to law enforcement. Exceptions to the policy will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by the Administration. If a matter revolves around the threat of a legal issue, then it is up to the relevant courts and/or authorities to rule on such matters. The staff at TTA forums do not have the knowledge or rights to make judgments, or intervene, in legal matters. The Administration rely upon the membership to identify offending behavior.

5) No Malicious Disruption
This applies to deliberate and pre-meditated disruptive behavior. Controversial opinions, however, are encouraged. In the event that it is considered by the forum Administration that a person is causing excessive issues, then they will be officially warned. Failure to heed the warning will lead to temporary bans, leading up to a permanent ban if the offending behavior does not cease. Anyone who is considered to be trying to manipulate this rule to get another member banned by causing controversy around them risks falling foul of this rule themselves. Behavior of this nature is often detected through sudden increased activity on the forum.

Also be aware:
Certain sections have their own Code of Conduct (CoC). Please look out for these at the top of the relevant section.

Best and worst of Ferdinand .....
Ferdinand: We don't really say 'theist' in Alabama. Here, you're either a Christian, or you're from Afghanistan and we fucking hate you.
Ferdinand: Everyone from British is so, like, fucking retarded.
