RE: Fox Apologist Explains Harvey with God
I think there's a lot of early onset sadomasochism in christianity. They've had heavy self guilt pounded into their heads from childhood and don't feel quite worthy of love unless their god swats them around in a hurricane, tornado, flood, fire, earthquake or massive flu epidemic do once in a while.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

Of course! It all makes perfect sense now.

The universe is at the mercy of an invisible rabbit. Tongue

Dude should've explained God with Harvey. Yes

I thought it was Howard.

Howard be thy name.

That would be the duck God, not the bunny God. Same concept though.

RE: Fox Apologist Explains Harvey with God
I now consider the Abraham story in allegorical terms:

God is considered "the authority", whether that's the king, the high priest, the government etc.
All "good" comes from "the authority" (God gave Abraham a son long after his wife Sarah was supposed to be barren)
The catch is that what "the authority" gives, it can also ask you to sacrifice.
So be a good obedient servant, and sacrifice your child(ren) (to wage a profit-driven war, usually) for the good of "the authority" but don't worry, maybe "the authority" will intervene at the last minute and reward your loyalty.

It's Authoritarianism 101- "How to keep the plebes in line"

Your faith is not evidence, your opinion is not fact, and your bias is not wisdom

I'm going with Stockholm Syndrome ... that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Quote:Compassionate volunteers helped nursing home patients flee before the rising waters inundated their residences. Did the volunteers always act this compassionately in the past? Or did the enormity of the crisis bring their true design, based on God’s love, to the surface?
Those people have more love in their hearts than "God" ever will. Aside from God not even existing, even the concept has him killing thousands. So what love is that again that "God" supposedly has? Dodgy

Quote:In a world that assumes there are no objective rights and wrongs, tragedies recalibrate our moral compasses and remind us that some things are always right. Could doing the right thing be more than an instinct? Could it be an echo of the very nature of a righteous and moral God?
*sorry, still choking* Righteous and moral??? Blink
These Fox people are brainless!

Quote:Families wept over the death of loved ones, just as Jesus wept near the tomb of his friend Lazarus. Could our tears and sorrows be reminders that death was not part of our original design, that we were created to be like God—immortal?
They thought this was a good analogy... so if tears are about our lost immortality, why was immortal Jesus crying again...? Consider

Quote:(Think about it: if atheistic materialism is true, don’t you think we would have become used to death in 3+ billion years of life on planet Earth? Wouldn’t we have settled the case that human deaths are par for the course and shouldn’t trouble us more than the death of a plant or pet?)
WTF is "atheistic materialism"? (asks the atheist to people building fancy churches and living in mansions...)
And why would anyone who loves life get "used to death"?

Quote:God is not absent but is very, very subtle. He hides himself in plain sight, but can be found when we learn how to decipher the clues that point toward his presence. And the clues are abundant right now in Houston.
The bold part: Laugh out loadLaugh out load Rolleyes
Facepalm

Stupid has no lower boundary.

@DonaldTrump, Patriotism is not honoring your flag no matter what your country/leader does. It's doing whatever it takes to make your country the best it can be as long as its not violent.
