Yea - I just like showing really good pics of comets. Tongue

But actually... I kind of wouldn't put it past some cultish fundie to fall off the deep end thinking this is the BIG impact which somehow meets with god's prophesy. Space seems to be the final frontier for religious nut bags. Dodgy

The big one will miss us, but this little one did not, and injured a lot of people.

Yea I read about it. Scary. They said windows were blown out and people were injured.

RE: Friday's Asteroid
Yea - I heard - I was looking for good articles but my WIFI is crap today.

One report said there were at least 500 really big ones all at once. Made a hell of a racket and shattered windows, injured a bunch of people. They checked radiation and said the levels are ok, though. WOW!! Scary as shit!! Shy

Ok, I hope no one got hurt ... but it's still freaking cool. Dodgy

Well, that was uneventful. Thumbsup Except for the two meteorites touching down elsewhere.

RE: Friday's Asteroid
One of the astronomers on NPR today said it is possible the little one that hit Russia broke off the big one from the fly-by about a year ago, and they need to put the paths of both into a super computer, and see what happens. Apparently, it's possible thay came apart about a year ago. Will be interesting to see what they find.

RE: Friday's Asteroid
With regards to the Russian meteor it appears that it exploded in the air and this caused the shockwave. Would it have caused more damage/energy if it had hit the earth in one chunk?
