1) Let a = b.
2) a² = ab
3) a² + a² = a² + ab
4) 2a² = a² + ab
5) 2a² - 2ab = a² + ab - 2ab
6) 2a² - 2ab = a² - ab
7) 2(a² - ab) = a² - ab
8) 2(a² - ab) / (a² - ab) = (a²-ab)/(a²-ab)
9) 2 = 1 QED
Well, yea...
You know I felt stupid enough already, you didn't have to make it worse! Lol. There's no way I am going to avoid this is there?
You guys are going to help me with this stuff when I get back in school right?

Totally! I can help with algebra, but beyond that, I may be of no use Blush but you never know, some of the more advanced stuff may come back to me after looking at some problems.

I hope that the world turns, and things get better. But what I hope most of all is that you understand what I mean when I tell you that, even though I do not know you, and even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you, I love you. With all my heart, I love you. - V for Vendetta

RE: Fun with Math
I swear I didn't look at the spoiler, nor any other posts. The answer is very simple:

...at step 7 we have
2(a^2 - ab) = a^2 - ab, but we already know that a = b, so this is

2(0) = 0

which makes step 8

8) 2(a^2 - ab)/(a^2 - ab)=(a^2-ab)/(a^2-ab)
2(0)/(0) = (0)/(0)

...but 0/0 is not 1, it's undefined.

Solve for m when 4m - 1 = 4m.

Has no solution(well ulness you allow infinities).
