G'day from Australia
G'day all Smile

Just signed up here and I dont know if my post will need to be approved before showing up, but no matter.

I got the link for the Thinking Athiest from facebook and have been listening to the podcasts. I love them so much.
Being an atheist here in Australia isnt a big deal. No really cares about it.
What attracts me to the show and these forums is that i am a recovering christian.

Anyhoo. See you all in the forums.

Welcome aboard!
I think you'll be relieved to know that most members here are recovering from the same disease!

Hillsong are a very high publicity minority (about 20,00 out of a 20 million strong country) and Pentecostalism is still very much a smaller denomination compared to Catholicism and Anglicans. We actually have more confirmed atheists and non believers here than Pentecostals, and that's based on 2006 data. We had a census last year but the results haven't been released yet. The Atheist Foundation of Australia put some money behind a campaign encouraging people who were only paying lip service to religions to vote truthfully about their non-belief, so its likely to be a tad higher.

I wish I had known about that campaign. On the census for religion i put Flying Spaghetti Monster. I thought I might get some reaction, but nothing happened.
Maybe enough people really do love the FSM and they had to accept it.

May you all be bless with his noodley goodness.
