That'd be fun to see how his constituents react back in Texas....

He's been in office almost 30 years from some district in Texas and he's 86 yo. He don't give a shit no more.

Apparently......

Maybe he just wants out.....

Cuz safe bet -- he's headed that way now....

Maybe they're counting on the senior's memories not being so good four years down the road. Yes

Touché, I'm still chuckling.

Are you so purblind as to still lend credence to Trump's campaign rhetoric? He's backed off so much stuff he's promised, yet you still take the man at his word?

This needs to pass and is a necessary measure at this point in time if Social Security is going to be preserved in any form.

This nation is in serious financial straits. Politicians and a willfully ignorant public have run up a $20,000,000,000,000 national debt on short term subsidies like personal, income, and corporate tax breaks, military spending, and raiding social security funds to pay for pet projects. We all demanded teoporal handouts and never gave a thought about the tab......

Well the tab is due. You don't like having to make these reforms? Too bad. You should have thought about this in the early '80s as we began to run up a national debt and refused to maintain a sane fiscal policy. And it only gets worse at this point if you don't start changing things.

@Carlo The Bugsmasher Driver

Considering the level of taxation in Texas, the governement could also raise taxes to stabilise its financial situation without having to cut in social services. Or probably more reasonnably do a little bit of both.

And I suggest raising taxes as well. But if we're ever going to climb out of this financial hole, we'd better start doing so and that's going to require sacrifices from everyone.

I bet all the middle-aged people who went broke caring for their aging parents with SS and Medicare no longer in the picture will remember.

RE: GOP Going After Social Security
If they do away with Social Security, they need a plan for all the people who have been paying into it. For example, if they were to cut it off completely in 10 years, I wouldn't see a penny of what I paid in even though I have been paying in for 36 years.
