Apparently, grits is basically porridge made of ground-corn...

Looks vaguely like a bowl full of baby vomit.

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.

It is similar to Polenta and is made from ground corn. The main difference is Polenta is made with stock and is meant to be a side dish to a larger meal where as grits are made with water and are generally eaten as a breakfast food.

RE: GRITS!!! (Hughsie tried them for the first time)
Grits are either dry and boring or amazing and delicious.

Just grits in a bowl with nothing, more boring than plain oatmeal.
Made the way evenheathen is talking about, delicious.

I'm really weird and my southerner family thinks I'm insane, but I love grits with honey or other sweet things in it. (fruit, brown sugar, etc) I am told that this is blasphemous, but I don't care. It's delicious and a great quick meal in the morning.

Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

*********** Joke ****************

So gal from NewYork is visiting an old college friend in Texas. They agree to go out for breakfast. Waitress asked NewYorker "do you want grits with that?" And gal from NY answers: "hmmmm I've never had Grits. Might I try just one?"

The word "grits" caught Hughsie off a couple of times. He was wanting to call it "grit" instead.

You can also go the sweet route and add brown sugar or honey. Just plain grits might be a bit boring.

I have this weird thing about me. I know, it may sound strange, but bear with me. I like to enjoy the flavor of my food. Shocking
